Learn about 'death cards'

The antagonist in the Vietnam thriller 'Lincoln Park' uses a personalized death card. This is to let the VC know who was responsible for the assassination.

Jack Flash (his nom de guerre) is an assassin for the CIA's Phoenix Program. He gleefully takes out VC cadre using his Swedish K machine gun.

Robert Duvall, the Colonel who loves the smell of napalm in the morning, puts death cards on dead enemy soldiers in the movie Apocalypse Now.

Jack Flash becomes conflicted in the novel as his CIA handlers become obsessed with the system body count while not realizing that the war is slipping away. Jack is going to have make a decision about his future and the acronym CYA (cover your ass) says it all.
